Achim Forst

Film critic

is a freelance music and film critic. Studied MA (German literature, journalism and musicology) in Freie Universität Berlin. Film and music writer for press and radio. Work for the film festivals in Mannheim, Berlin and Munich (selection committee and/or editor catalogue, festival journal).

From 1991 to 2020 he worked as commissioning editor of film department at TV station ZDF. Author and director of TV documentaries, including films about Wim Wenders, Russian cinema, the Moscow Film School VGIK, the New Romanian Cinema, "Dogme 95", artists in Australia and Lars von Trier. Author of the book “Breaking the Dreams – The Cinema of Lars von Trier”.
