Andrey Vasilenko

Film critic

is a curator, programmer and film critic based in Moscow. He studied architecture and philosophy at the Far East State University. He is a curator of V-A-С Foundation. He has been working  as a member of the selection committee and the curator of special programs for the Vladivostok International Film Festival Pacific Meridian from 2008 to 2020. He curated a few big exhibition, film programs and retrospective : „Thesis of Architecture“, „Mind the Gap: Contemporary Video Art of Taiwan“, “Wang Bing: The stranded age”, “Misadventure of discovering” among others. In his curatorial practice, he focuses on investigations in field of cinematic narratology, history and diverce methology of politics of memory as well as development of cross-disciplinary regimes for representation artistic content. Andrey Vasilenko is a contributor of the most influential Russian film magazine Iskusstvo Kino (The Art of Cinema), and has elucidated current issues of cinema theory and published analytical reviews of dedicated new art-films. His texts are also being published in cineticle.com, colta.ru, master-journal currentime.tv  He is a member of FIPRESCI(The International Federation of Film Critics) and NETPAC(Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema).  He was a member of International Jury of The Critics Awards for Arab Films  2020. As a member of jury he was working for International Film Festivals in Colombo, Tallinn, Rotterdam, Moscow and Thessaloniki.
