“Flahertiana” presents festival’s national competition short-list. 14 documentaries are competing for the prize “Small Silver Nanuk”. Among them there is Andrey Shabaev’s film The Farm about rigours of Moscow lady moving to the country, Marina Chuvailova’s work All Around Hope about women confessions at the hairdresser’s.

“Each of the films in Russian program was applicant for the main international competition,” president of the documentary film festival Pavel Pechenkin mentions, “There is some productive optimism in the films: this year we got even deeper and more mature works from the directors. Particular people are still the centre of attention. In these works one can find answers to a variety of questions: why the boss is bad, and the workers are lazy; how children and their parents are supposed to get along. In other words, authors went for the same questions as the Russian classical literature.”

As usually, program of “Russian Flahertiana” includes best documentaries filmed by Russian directors in the last year. According to Festival Regulations, the jury of the national competition will choose the winner. Author of the best film will get “Small Silver Nanuk” award and 25 thousand of prize money.

Citizens of Perm will see films from Russian short-list in September 18–24 — during IDFF “Flahertiana”. Directors themselves will present their works to the audience.

Festival will be held for the 15th time, this year it celebrates its 20 years anniversary.
