The program of the International Competition of the festival Flahertiana has changed. It now includes the newly completed work “Currentzis. The Principle of Passion” by Perm filmmaker Alexey Romanov about the famous conductor and ex-artistic director of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater.

At the heart of this documentary lies the study of the phenomenon of Currentzis. What is his creative method? What is the spirit of the music? How to express it most accurately to the audience and what is the freedom and responsibility of the modern artist? To answer these questions, the crew filmed a conductor for 10 years including the tour of his symphony orchestra MusicAeterna in Germany.

The organizing committee notes that they were waiting for the completion of this work by the 19th festival. The film project was presented at the Flahertiana Forum pitching last year. The film will replace in the competition "For Sama" directed by Waad Al-Hateb and Edward Watts which dropped out of the competition for reasons beyond the control of the organizers.
