AUDIENCE OF FLAHERTIANA WILL SEE “A LIVING SPACE”

The film about the famous theater director and set designer Robert Wilson will be screened at Flahertiana. Shot by the Czech documentary filmmaker Jakub Jahn, the motion picture will be a part of a special program dedicated to theatre.

“A Living Space” is an observation of the creative laboratory launched by the famous American director at the Watermill Cultural Center. Almost a hundred young artists from all over the world gather annually at the art residence to work with Wilson and such giants of art as Jim Jarmusch, Philip Glass and Daniel Lebeskind.

The Czech director documents 50 days of the summer program, including an interview with Robert Wilson himself, invited artists and participants. We will see how the main hero of Jahn’s non-fiction teaches the actors at rehearsals not only to play but also to notice what is around, and sometimes just keep silence.

For Jakub Jahn, an independent artist and filmmaker, this is not the first time working on a research project of contemporary art, fashion and theater. His previous films were “Hamletophelia” and “Living Pictures”. He will come to the festival in person to talk with the audience about his work, Robert Wilson and Czech cinema. The screening with the participation of the author will be held on September 23 at 20:30 at the Premier Cinema Center.

The special screening and meeting the director are held with the support of the Czech Center Moscow.
