Flahertiana Postpones the Festival to December

The organizing committee of the IDFF Flahertiana decided to move the dates. The anniversary festival will be held from December 11 to 17, 2020 in Perm, Russia.

Traditionally, three competitions will take place during the festival week: International, National, and Student. In addition, the 4th Flahertiana Forum training and pitching for film projects will be held again as well as special events of the anniversary festival. They include a retrospective of the best films in the history of Flahertiana.

“All major festivals are now canceled or rescheduled. We believe that holding such an event online is ineffective since the main thing for us is meeting at the festival with spectators and film professionals,” says festival president Pavel Pechenkin.

“It happened so that the 20th festival fell on such an unforgettable year for the whole planet Earth. This is a hint that we value each other and appreciate the joy of communication which we so often underestimate. The 20th festival is a great way for the festival team. It could have been passed only by crazy, desperate people who were sure that what they were doing was the best thing in the world. Then, 25 years ago, almost no one watched the documentary cinema, we only dreamed about it. We did this with the obstinacy of the doomed. We were doomed to what the festival is now,” Pavel Pechenkin considers.

The festival team hopes that the epidemiological situation in Russia and around the world will allow the screenings in our usual format. During the festival, organizing the film screenings and workshops, all necessary measures will be taken so that the health of the audience and participants of the festival are safe.
