This program enlarges the consciousness. It expands the understanding of what spheres of human reasoning and thinking (not existence as one would commonly think) could be captured in documental films and how it could be done. Films of this program show that any idea could be introduced in the most unexpected manner. It comprises works of French and European directors revealing different sides of existential filmmaking tradition. While documentaries in Russia try to break into reality, French films are rather moving towards contemporary art and conceptual solutions. The image full of faint gleams of feelings, foggy thoughts, mixed ideas and mashed stories resembles the prose of Marcel Proust whose postulates and texts appear in French documentary films as often as Fedor Dostoevsky’s quotes in Russian pictures.
