Mari Prayer (6+)

Russia, 2011, colour, 26 min.
Director: Galina Krasnoborova
Every two weeks, in the world one language dies. People who speak the language disappear together with it. The film is talking about the mentality, poetry and philosophy of Mari people, living in Perm Region. It presents the ancient popular songs and prayers that still can be heard only here, on the bank of Sylva river. Mari prayer unifies the under, middle and upper worlds, unifies past, present and future of Mari people. It is addressed to Sun, water, trees, ancestry… This prayer protects, this prayer saves, this prayer gives hope… And what can happen if it will not be heard any more?
