was born in 1963, graduated from the Sverdlovsk Theatre School in 1984 (the Department of Drama Art). He worked as an actor in a theatre, then as an assistant film director at the Sverdlovsk Film Studio. He graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in 1993 (V. Kochetkov’s workshop).
