The film, created from fragments of phrases, observations and faces, is an attempt to show the inner world of a cadet from the National Guard of Russia. We see both a boy with the first machine gun in his hands and an adult soldier at the protest.

Alexey Evstigneev
was born and raised in Shatura. Since 2015, he’s been a student of Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK, workshop of V. Lisakovich and A. Gelein). His student films Not Far Away and The Golden Buttons are prize-winners and participants of Russian and international festivals. Recently, Alexey has been working on an animated documentary called Father’s Letters.
