In Managua, Nicaragua, teenager Sujeyiin Aguilar raises her newborn daughter Karla on the same streets she has been calling home for the past eight years. Based in a city park and part of a larger group of youngsters, mother and baby struggle to reach the little one's first birthday. Beautifully told and full of hope, Karla's Arrival offers an intense personal story about second generation street children.

Koen Suidgeest

(Holland, 1967) graduated with a BA (Hons) in Film Production and Cinematography at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design (UK, 1995). He moved to Spain in 1996 where he started working as a director of photography in film and advertising, while developing low budget films in the USA and Canada. His Madrid-based company EL RAYO FILMS S. L. produces documentaries and theatrical feature films. With his documentary Casting (2006) he became the first Dutch filmmaker to be nominated for a Spanish Academy Award (Goya).
