This film is an intimate portrait of a family of Dukha reindeer nomads following their migration through the forests of Mongolia’s Hovsgol province. They move with a herd of about a hundred reindeer through a sacred forest inhabited by the spirits of their ancestors, who communicate to the living through songs.

Hamid Sardar

a Harvard University Ph.D scholar of Inner Asian Studies is an associate of the Harvard Film Study Center. He was a director of the School for International Training’s anthropological field studies program in Mongolia between 2000-2003. He is currently, president and co-founder of the Axis-Mundi Foundation, set up in Switzerland, which aims to support cultural and scientific exchange between modern civilization and the wisdom of traditional cultures around the world.
