The film "Beyond the Polar Circus" was the debut of the then young director Erofeyev. Erofeyev's heroes - the Chukchis - are depicted as an unseparable part of their natural environment. Next to the team of "Kolyma" boat, which transferred the filming company to the Polar Circle, the Chukchis look neither retarded nor handicapped. The film was relesed in 1927, although the first shooting took place in 1913. Khanzhonkov recollects a professional camera work done by F. Brelir. He also describes how "Kolyma" boat got stuck in ice. The film stayed undeveloped for a long time. Much later it was released in random parts. In late 20s Erofeyev started his director's career editing the original film shot in 1913.
