He moves with his head raised as if he were peering into the distance. His big sinewy hands skillfully hold the scythe. A sweeping movement, another one... the grass evenly falls on the ground. The sun sets. It gets darker. The man does not seem to notice it. He keeps working. It is a typical mower's job... but the mower himself is not very typical. Vassili Filippovich Filippov got blind in 1917 at the age of 5. His parents died when he was a child, and the miserable blind orphan could have nearly died. But he survived...

родился в 1930 г. После школы окончил Одесский институт инженеров морского транспорта. Разочаровавшись в профессии инженера морфлота, поступил во ВГИК, на режиссерский факультет. С 1960 начал работать на киностудии Казахфильм, затем - Киргизфильм, с 1976 года - на Свердловской киностудии.
