Dwelling Spaces (0+)

Russia, 1986, colour, 26 min.
Director: Viktor Semenyuk
Powerful machines crawl through blizzard. The column of pipeline builders moves forward. People and North, people and Nature are in their eternal coynteraction, with people supported by machinery this time. Mars landscape (though snowy instead of sandy), the ever shining sun, snow trucks of tractors and pipe laying machines reminding of the Mooncar's wheel tracks... Is there any place at all for people to dwell? Yes, there is. A giant cylinder floats above the planet. Inside it is warm, the cylinder is filled with friendly people sharing their reminiscences and plans for the future. The pipeline moves forward. The builders' cylinders and carriages give way to faimiliar blocks of flats. Chimneys smoke the tundra sky. But the dwelling spaces go on moving along the snowy desert, with occasional local inhabitants (viewed as its undeparable part) coming across the amazing ride here and there...
