FLAHERTIANA FORUM REGULATIONS
Flahertiana Forum 2017: Training and Pitching for Documentary Filmmakers from Countries of the Eastern Partnership and Russia will take place in Perm, Russia, from 16 to 20 September, 2017.
Held during the 17th International Documentary Film Festival Flahertiana (September 15-21, Perm, Russia), Flahertiana Forum is a five-day project which stands for presenting a film idea in an early stage to a group of people interested to get involved as supporters/ coproducers of the documentaries made by filmmakers from the countries of the Eastern Partnership (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) and Russia. At the same time, we launch a preparatory Training for students and beginning filmmakers so that they can learn to pitch their projects, and the best projects will have the opportunity to be pitched to the experts during the Pitching. During 3 days of Training the participants will work on their projects with the tutors, visit the lectures of the IDFF Flahertiana International Jury Members, have the opportunity to see the documentaries from all over the world screened at the Festival venues. And during the 2 days of Pitching – to become the participants or observers of real pitching event.
General Project Requirements
– Projects of the documentary films made by filmmakers from Russia and the countries of the Eastern Partnership (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) are allowed for participation.
– Project should have a potencial for international coproduction.
– All the preview materials are accepted as links for online screeners only (YouTube, Vimeo) and should have English subtitles or voice-over.
How to submit your project?
To submit your project, please:
– fill in the Entry Form;
– send to the official e-mail flahertiana.forum@gmail.com the following materials:
- short description of the project (half page);
- a detailed project description including information about the film crew if available (3 – 12 pages);
- a rough budget, sorted by positions;
- a financial plan: where do you expect to get financing, which sum is already in place?;
- HQ Photo of the film director and 3 stills from the film (not more than 3 Mb each);
- biography and filmography of the film director;
- motivation letter (if you can only participate with Stipendium – read more in Selection Procedures section).
All the preview materials should have have English subtitles or voice-over. Flahertiana Forum does not charge any fees for entry.

Deadlines
Submission deadline is the 15th of July, 2017. The results of the selection will be announced not later than the 15th of August, 2017.
Selection Procedures
Selection Committee headed by the Chairman selects projects to participate in both training and pitching. Deadline for applications is July 15, 2017. In case a project has been selected, the Festival notifies the applicant (director, producer or distributor) of the fact after August 10, 2017.
About 30 projects of film students and beginning filmmakers will be selected to participate in training. Authors of 22 projects have the opportunity to get the Stipendium which covers the expenses for travel and accomodation. During the 3 days of training the best projects will be chosen for the first day of pitching.
Pitching will be held in 2 days: 1st day – projects chosen from the training, 2nd day – projects of experienced filmmakers chosen from the submissions.
About 20 projects will be chosen to participate in the 2nd day of pitching. Authors of 12 projects also have the opportunity to get the Stipendium which covers the expenses for travel and accomodation.
