FLAHERTIANA FORUM 2019 REGULATIONS

International Training and Pitching Flahertiana Forum 2019 is a training and pitching for documentary filmmakers which takes place in Perm, Russia, from 22 to 26 September, 2019.

Held during the 19th International Documentary Film Festival Flahertiana (September 20-26, Perm, Russia), Flahertiana Forum is a project which stands for presenting an idea of documentary films in an early stage to a group of people interested to get involved as supporters/ coproducers of the documentaries made by filmmakers from Russia. At the same time, we launch a preparatory training for students and beginning filmmakers so that they could learn to pitch their projects. The best projects participating in the training will have an opportunity to be pitched to the experts during the Pitching. Participants of the training will also have a chance to visit the lectures of the IDFF Flahertiana International Jury Members, to watch documentaries from all over the world screened at the Festival venues. During the Pitching they may become participants or observers of a real pitching event.

General Project Requirements

– Projects of the documentary films made by filmmakers from Russia are allowed for participation.

– Projects should have a potential for international coproduction.

– Projects at any stage of development are allowed for competition.

– Only director or producer of a project may apply for entry.

How to submit your project?

To submit your project, please:

– fill in the Entry Form;

– send the following materials to forum@flahertiana.ru:

• short description of the project (up to 300 words or half page);
• a detailed project description (up to 3 pages);
• HQ Photo of a film director and a producer and 3 stills from the film (no more than 3 Mb each);
• biography and filmography of a film director and a producer;
• motivation letter (if you can only participate with Fellowship; read more in Selection Procedures section).

Preview materials are accepted as links to online screeners only (YouTube, Vimeo) and should have English subtitles or voice-over.

Flahertiana Forum does not charge any fees for entry.

Observers without projects are allowed if registered in advance. The registration starts after August 6th (we’ll announce call for entries separately).

Deadlines

Submission deadline is the 15th of July, 2019. The results of the selection will be announced not later than the 6th of August, 2019.

Selection Procedures

Selection Committee selects projects to participate in both training. In case a project has been selected, the Festival notifies the applicant (director and/or producer) of the fact after August 6th, 2019.

Best projects (according to the training tutors) selected after the training will be presented at the pitching (September, 25-26).

The fellowship, which covers expenses for travel and accommodation, is granted only to one representative of a project (director or producer). Number of fellowship participants is limited. The Committee will inform participants who is granted the fellowship after August 6th 2019.

Flahertiana Forum is based on an initiative of IDFF Flahertiana, Perm Department of the Filmmakers Union of Russia, and is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Perm Krai.
