FLAHERTIANA FORUM 2020 REGULATIONS

International Training and Pitching Flahertiana Forum 2020  is a training and pitching for documentary filmmakers held during the 20th International Documentary Film Festival Flahertiana.

Flahertiana Forum, December 12 – 17, 2020,  is the first and only training and pitching event in Russia, which provides a meeting place for filmmakers, creators, and producers of creative documentary projects from Russia and abroad. Our main objective is to enhance the co-production of Russian and foreign documentary filmmakers. 

The Forums starts with training for directors and producers of selected projects. Renown and well-experienced filmmakers tutor them how to shape and pitch their ideas.

The best projects participating in the training will have an opportunity to be presented to the industry experts during the Pitching. 

General Project Requirements

– Projects of the documentary films made by filmmakers from Russia are allowed for participation.

– Projects should have the potential for international co-production.

– Projects at any stage of development are allowed for competition.

– Only the director or producer of a project may apply for entry.

How to submit your project?

To submit your project, please:

– fill in the Entry Form; 

– send the following materials to forum@flahertiana.ru:

• short description of the project (up to 300 words or half-page);
• a detailed project description (up to 3 pages);
• HQ Photo of a film director and a producer and 3 stills from the film (no more than 3 Mb each);
• biography and filmography of a film director and a producer;
• motivation letter (if you can only participate with Fellowship; read more in Selection Procedures section).

Preview materials are accepted as links to online screeners only (YouTube, Vimeo) and should have English subtitles or voice-over.

Flahertiana Forum does not charge any fees for entry.

Deadlines

Submission deadline is the 1st of September, 2020. The results of the selection will be announced not later than the 1st of October, 2020.

Selection Procedures

Selection Committee selects projects to participate in the Forum training and pitching. In case a project has been selected, the Festival notifies the applicant (director and/or producer) of the fact after October 1st, 2020.

Best projects (according to the training tutors) selected after the training will be presented at the pitching.

The fellowship, which covers expenses for travel and accommodation, is granted only to one representative of a project (director or producer). A number of fellowship participants are limited. The Committee will inform participants who are granted the fellowship after October 1st, 2020.

Flahertiana Forum is based on an initiative of IDFF Flahertiana, Perm Department of the Filmmakers Union of Russia, and is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Perm Krai.
