Sergei Lando (cinematographer, Russia) was born on 16 January, 1956 in Ribinsk. Graduated from Ribinsk Avia and Technologic Institute, served in army, worked as engineer at Ribinsk Motor Design Bureau. In 1981 entered and in 1987 graduated from VGIK as “cinematographer”. As a VGIK student he made a number of films (“White White Day”, “Leo” etc.) which were demonstrated at international student film seminars. Since 1987 he has been working and living in St. Petersburg. He is director of photography at St. Petersburg Documentary Film Studio. He also worked as director and script writer of documentary films, and at Kultura TV Channel as cinematographer. He is a member of the Filmmakers Union of Russia, of the Cinematographers Guild of Russia, of Imago, and of Non-Fiction Cinema Guild of Russia.
