"The film that we’ve been missing". Opening Ceremony

Flahertiana's Opening Ceremony will take place online. The broadcast of the ceremony will begin at 21:00 Perm time (19:00 Moscow time) on the festival's YouTube channel. The opening film "Talking About Trees" will be shown right after the ceremony in the online cinema, only in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Talking About Trees” is the film by Suhaib Gasmelbari on how Ibrahim, Soliman, Manar, and Altayeb decide to make their dream come true – to make cinema reality in Sudan. Friends are determined to leave a mark in history and infect their compatriots with their passion. Will they succeed? We'll find out on December 11.

The Chief Coordinator of the festival, Alina Stabrovskaya, believes that this is exactly the film that we’ve all been missing: “The film tells the story of the good friendship of Sudanese filmmakers. Due to various bureaucratic prohibitions, they are deprived of the opportunity to show their films on the big screen, but they are trying to break through to be screened in a real cinema. For us now this situation has also become a daily routine. Perhaps, this December many of us miss the warm Sudanese wind, meetings in cinemas, and stories of friendship."

The opening ceremony will be available all over the globe on YouTube. Viewing the film is possible only in the territory of the Russian Federation.
