The International Documentary Film Festival Flahertiana” announces the start of accepting applications for participation in the 2025 competition programs. This year, the festival will be held for the 25th time from September 19th to 25th in Perm. Traditionally, the festival program includes three competitions: international, national (“Russian Flahertiana”) and student.

Documentary film directors and producers can submit their work to the festival’s organizing committee through the website. To apply, it is necessary to fill out the form and provide the film in the appropriate format. The deadline for submissions to the international and national competitions is May 10, 2025, while the deadline for the student competition is June 25, 2025.

To participate in the festival, works must adhere to the style of Robert Flaherty, established in his film “Nanook of the North” (long-term observation of the characters and the use of a “conventional camera”). Films submitted to the festival must have been completed no earlier than January 1, 2024. In addition, participants should carefully review the technical requirements outlined in the Festival Regulations before submitting their applications.

•  Grand Prix for the best film of the festival - “Big Golden Nanook” and a prize of 250,000 rubles.

•  “Silver Nanook” prize - “For Best Directing” and a prize of 75,000 rubles.

•  “Silver Nanook” prize - “For Best Screenplay” and a prize of 75,000 rubles.

The jury of the national competition awards the “Small Golden Nanook” prize for the best film of the national competition “Russian Flahertiana” and a prize of 75,000 rubles, while the jury of the student competition awards the prize for the best student film and a prize of 50,000 rubles.

The lists of selected films for the international, national, and student competitions will be published on the official festival website, as well as on social media after July 1, 2025.
