With the success of “Waltz with Bashir“ (2008), based on real events and interviews, a growing audience got acquainted with the special artistic forms of AnimaDoc – a combination of documentary film and animation. This subgenre, however, has a long history in film itself. The use of animation offers a variety of creative and surprising possibilities to add further narrative modes not only to visualize inner worlds and otherwise missing background. Thus, this form of documentary has enriched the genre for new ways altogether, and also for the future.
