Flahertiana continues to acquaint its viewers with the most important events in the history of cinema. Following the “Anniversary of the Revolution” screened at the festival in 2019, we present “The History of the Civil War”, found and carefully restored by Nikolai Izvolov, a documentary by Dziga Vertov dedicated to the key milestones and figures of one of the most important events of the 20th century. The film was shown just once, at a private screening in June of 1921. 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the war, and “The History of the Civil War” reappears on screens after a 100-year break.
