10-years old Toto and his sisters Ana and Andreea live at the outskirts of a Romanian city. During their mother’s imprisonment, these teenagers make efforts to survive in a world where childhood is rarely bound to be happy. Toto learns dancing, reading and writing, while his sisters try to keep family together.

Alexander Nanau

Alexander Nanau

is a German film director born in Romania. He studied directing at the Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). His documentary film, “The World According to Ion B.”, was awarded in 2010 an International Emmy Award for Arts Programming. The film traveled in over 50 festivals worldwide. Nanau’s first feature documentary, “Peter Zadek inszeniert Peer Gynt” (2006), was released in cinemas across Germany and Austria in 2006.
