The brutal Nagorno-Karabakh War of 2020 ended in a Russian-brokered ceasefire. Armenia had to cede the territory under its control to Azerbaijan. As a result, thousands of Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh were forced to leave their homes. A few days before the territory transfer deadline, a group of volunteers, risking their lives, goes to the Lachin region to find and save from destruction the sacred ancient Armenian stone inscriptions known as “khachkars”.
