In an elementary school in the city of Wuhan in central China, eight-year-old children compete for the position of Class Monitor. Their parents, devoted to their only child, take part and start to influence the results. Weijun Chen has conducted an experiment in democracy that serves as a microcosm of electoral systems all over the world. A portrait of a society and a town through a school, its children and its families.

Weijun Chen

Weijun Chen

is a documentary director and producer living in Wuhan, central China. He graduated in Journalism from the Sichuan University in 1992 and his first film was nominated for the best documentary of the year by the Chinese National Association of Broadcasters. Chen was recognized for his work by being awarded one of the top 10 best documentaries in 2012 by the People’s Republic of China’s Cultural Department and National Broadcast Bureau.
