born in 1975 in Oulunsalo, Finland. Wanted to be an archaeologist, but found herself in film school in 1996. Studied documentary directing and editing at the University of Art and Design UIAH, Helsinki. Has directed four documentary films. Mervi currently lives in Uppsala, Sweden.
