Two Dutch cameramen decided to turn to their roots, visiting two small islands with the similar name «Amsterdam» in two different parts of the world, step by step repeating the journey of two famous navigators of the XVI century — William Barentz and Cornelius van Gutman. The first part of the film tell us about their journey from the capital of Holland Amsterdam to the northern island of the Schpitzbergen archipelago called Amsterdam and back.

Rob Rombout

was born in 1953 in Amsterdam. He teaches in the cinematographic schools of Europe, conducts a master-class in Sao-Paulo (Brazil) since 1975. He lives in Brussels.
