I Was Going Home (0+)

Russia, 1990, colour, min.
Director: Lyudmila Ulanova
The heroine, Natasha Sapyolkina, enters a Theatre School, falls in love with a taxi driver, gets assaulted by him, gives up schooling, goes home, starts acting in the theatre, gives birth to a baby. At last, she makes an appeal to "Krestianka" magazine, "Women are needed to give a hand here and there, but, here, in our village, men are needed to offer their hearts". Too many men meet the appeal. It leads to her leaving home, with her son to be left to his Grandparent's care. The film producers neither protest nor accuse anyone. Being far from ideaizing their main characters, they keep their eyes (caera, to be more exact) open even for some pretty risky and dubios situations.

AWARDS

The film was awarded with prizes at Oberhausen Festival and at International Film Scools Festival at All-Union State Cinematography College of Higher Education in Moscow.
