«Flahertiana» will screen a film about Finnish boxer «Daddy Loves You»

The IDFF “Flahertiana” starts telling about this year Special Screenings, which will be held during the main festival events – International, National, and Student Films Competitions. The main purpose of Specials is to introduce the best of contemporary European documentary cinema to the Russian audience.

On the 19th of September, viewers will see the Finnish documentary “Daddy Loves You”, which was premiered in Tampere (Finland) in May, 2015. The main character of the film, Jussi Koivula, was orphaned at twelve years of age after his parents were deprived of parental rights, all due to alcohol and substance abuse. He is a solitary bird in Finnish professional boxing and he’s not even sure if he’s talented enough to carry on, but anyhow, this profession is the only thing he wants to do in his life. Jussi is 29 now, and his career was recently on the verge of collapse due to the eye injury. He is getting ready to the big boxing match which result will be deciding if he is capable of participating in the World Championship after 17 years of being in the professional sport.

The director and the screenwriter of the film, Ninni Rokosa, graduated in 2005 from Tampere University of Applied Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts and Media in cinematography and directing. After graduating, Ninni Rokosa has worked in documentary and fiction television series and shows for different production companies working as the screenwriter, director, reporter, assistant director, coordinator, sound book reader, speaker and production manager. During the last few years, Ninni has written and directed television series and written short films.

Ninni Rokosa will personally present her film in Perm. “Daddy Loves You” Special Screening on “Flahertiana” is supported by the Embassy of Finland in Moscow.
