The diversity and contrasts of Russia is one of the main themes of this year's national competition. Together with the directors, we can follow a Chinese student and an eccentric hunter Valerik, who records touching video letters to his wife. We get acquainted with young Ivan mastering the tradition of Byzantine singing, and with the restless Yuli, who either burns her life, or tries to rebuild it after a family drama. We will spend several days with Karelian fishermen and an ambulance doctor in the midst of a pandemic. People, who have dedicated themselves to the past and meet the challenges of the present, broken by the severity of circumstances and those who find the strength to move on – all these are the heroes of the Russian Flahertiana 2022.
