Atijat, the First Wife (0+)

A starting point for the film is a story of Atijat and her husband Adil – a story that shows the world of dilemmas, experiences and marriage relationships in an Arabian family. After few years of living together, Atijat finds out that her husband is looking for a second wife. Reconciled with his plans and the reality she lives in, Atijat tells her story to Ania – a Polish young archeologist, the director of the film.

Anna Blaszchyk

was born in 1975 in Poland. She studied Archaeology of Egypt and Sudan at the Warsaw University. For ten years she has been traveling as a member of archaeological missions. She has become involved in film through excavations. In the past she was fascinated with life and customs of Bedouin people in Sudan. Anna is self-taught film director and cameraman, she has made two short reportages for TVP: «Promises of Shadows» (2005), and «Tahur» (2006). «Atijat, the First Wife» is her first documentary film.
