Tomorrow, September 14, the International Documentary Film Festival Flahertiana will begin. At the Opening Ceremony in the concert hall of the Perm State University, the audience will get acquainted with the jury of the festival, and the curator of pitching "Flahertiana-Forum" and the member of the board of the Association of Independent Producers of Germany AG DOK Cai Wesnigk will have a word. The film of the opening will be the cinema essay of the young Estonian director Ants Tammik "Fragile World". It his debut in filmmaking which received several awards for directing and for camera skills.

The film tells about two worlds opposing each other in form and content. Estonian swamps are working as filters absorbing gases which cause a greenhouse effect and cleaning the air we breathe. And strictly organized mines – an order artificially created by man.

The film received Matsalu Nature Film Festival award for Best Cinematography and International Festival “Man and Nature” named after V.G. Rasputin’s Grand Prix.

"Fragile World" will be screened for the second time on September 20 at the Premier Cinema Center, then the director will be able to talk to the audience. The film is presented under support of the Embassy of Estonia in Moscow.

During the festival opening, winners of VUZ-Flahertiana will also be awarded  the organizers of the best discussions on the example of archival documentary films. The contest was held from September 6 to 13 in 13 universities and schools of Perm.

The Opening Ceremony of the IDFF Flahertiana will be held on Friday, September 14, at 19:00 in the concert hall of the Perm State University (Bukirev Street, 10a). A ticket for the ceremony can be purchased at the Premiere Cinema Centre ticket offices or before the ceremony at the university. The ticket price is 200 rubles.
